Our future
The Centre d'Art is currently housed in fragile structures vulnerable to tropical climatic conditions, posing risks to both visitors and the collection’s storage areas.
The Ethéard-Larsen house
Thanks to the generosity of our longstanding supporters, the Fondation Daniel et Nina Carasso and the Fondation de France, we acquired the ‘Maison Ethéard-Larsen’ on Rue Casséus in Pacot at the end of 2019.
Through a fundraising campaign, donations will allow us to establish Le Centre d’Art in the historic heart of Port-au-Prince. On a 2,000 m² site, a historic 1920 building will restore Le Centre d’Art to its former glory once renovated. This Gingerbread-style building is part of a unique architectural heritage in Port-au-Prince, recognized by the World Monuments Fund.
Beyond the restoration of this remarkable heritage site, the building will serve as the cornerstone of Le Centre d’Art’s revival, housing a wide range of facilities: exhibition spaces, conservation areas, educational programs, a documentation center, digital arts, and a gallery dedicated to promoting the Centre’s artists. These various missions will each have their own dedicated space, including an area reserved for artists to create, train, and refine their skills.
